Metal Panels

Our metal panels are produced from metal sheeting that is extra smooth and tension leveled. All panels can be custom made to your sizing and color specifications.

Here at Metal Formers, Inc. we specialize in Concealed Fastened Systems (aka standing seam panels). Concealed faster systems work by clipping together with a hidden fastener. This way, there’s no bulky screws visible along your roof.

Here are some common panel options and customizations:

Flat, pencil ribs, or striated. Although pan conditions do not affect the cost of roofing very much, it can have an effect on oil canning.

Due to their panel design, it’s very difficult to disengage the lock between two asymmetrical panels. If repairs are required at any point during the roof’s lifespan, it may be necessary to remove multiple roof panels to access the area requiring repairs. Conversely, the panels in symmetrical systems are simply pushed up against each other, with a neat seam cap covering the splice. This makes it easy for symmetrical system panels to be popped out and removed.

The fastening flange is a cheaper option for attachment. Having said that, clipped systems offer much greater flexibility for expansion and contraction during thermal cycling.

A snapped metal panel system is fairly straightforward. It simply requires some pressure on top to “snap” into place. A mechanically seamed system on the other hand, required a special motorized seaming machine to roll form the panel together. The mechanical seaming option certainly comes with some extra labor and expenses, but it does stand up much better in wind and rain.
